For The Orbis School Students Discipline Appearance: Arrive at school looking fresh and smart. Wear a clean, well-ironed uniform. Keep hair neatly combed or tied. Maintain clean and trimmed nails. Polish shoes regularly General Behaviour: Demonstrate disciplined behaviour at all times. Maintain high standards of behaviour and speech. Greet all staff members respectfully. Show respect towards both teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as all school materials and facilities. Avoid aggressive behaviour. Avoid fighting, bullying, damaging property, and any behaviour causing injury. All unresolved disagreements amongst peers must be brought to the class teacher’s notice. Refrain from littering and proactively clean up any litter you encounter. Follow all school rules and regulations. Converse in English on the school premises. Greet peers, teachers, and visitors courteously. Be attentive in class and regular with assignments Attendance: Ensure regular attendance and avoid unnecessary absences. A minimum attendance of 80% is mandated. Provide written explanations for absences of up to three days. Obtain permission for absences exceeding three days, and submit a doctor’s certificate for extended sick leave. No half days or early leave for students will be permitted. Avoid applying for leave for family vacations or functions School Timing: School operates Monday to Friday. Be punctual. Adhere to arrival and departure times as per school guidelines Uniform: Adhere to the prescribed uniform and shoes strictly. Report to school in a clean and ironed uniform daily. Ensure personal hygiene and grooming standards are met. Boy’s hair must be cut short. Girl’s hair to neatly tied in two plaits/ put in place with a hairband in case of long hair. Avoid hair colouring and fancy jewelry. keep nails short, clean and unpainted. Girl students in Class 4 and above may wear simple earrings. Students of class 4 and above may wear watches Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, I-Pods, and other electronic gadgets. Fancy jewelry, valuable articles, and inappropriate books or magazines. Toys, inflammable items, and sharp objects. Values: Responsibility: Be accountable for your actions and work. Complete the assignments. Participate in class. Integrity: Be truthful in your words and actions. Treat others equally and avoid unfair practices. Act according to your values even when no one is watching. Empathy: Be compassionate and supportive. Collaborate well during group activities. Perseverance: Put in effort and keep trying.Learn from mistakes. Focus on long-term objectives and work consistently toward them. Self-discipline: Manage your time efficiently and prioritise your tasks. Make thoughtful choices instead of acting on immediate desires. Adhere to traffic rules and form queues where necessary. Walk on pavements or face traffic if no pavement is available. Hold doors open for others and offer your seat to the elderly, expectant, or handicapped individuals. Speak quietly to avoid disturbing others. Wait patiently in queues for vehicles or lifts, and be considerate of fellow passengers. If no queues are available, cause to form a queue. Gratitude: Be thankful to all those who support you, may it be your friends, teachers, family or the help staff. Courage: Learn to tackle difficult subjects or situations with composure. Defend your peers from any bullying or injustice. Ambassadors of the School: As representatives of The Orbis Schools, students are expected to uphold the highest standards of behavior both inside and outside the school. For The Orbis School Staff - You are the epitome of all that is good. Appearance: Teachers should be modest in their attire and should avoid words and actions which are not becoming of a teacher. Follow the dress code decided by the school. Behaviour: Should not use corporal punishment. Hitting a child amounts to cruelty and child abuse and is also against the law. Every staff must sign the “Pledge against Punishment”. A student should not be called to the teacher’s table for corrections. The door of the classroom may be closed to avoid distraction while the lesson is in progress only if and when required. But as a policy, the school prefers the door to be kept open. Students should not be sent on any personal errands during the lessons, e.g. fetching drinking water/ carrying messages to colleagues/ to carry attendance registers or answer sheets. Should not discuss any staff member or other parent with the students. Accept work assigned gracefully and face difficulties if any, courageously. Accept challenges in new fields, experiment and enrich knowledge, apply the same in the classroom. Respect instructions given by the seniors and diligently carry out the instruction issued. Help in maintaining the classroom and the school premises and report any damage observed via the general repair register maintained in the admin office. The use of mobile phones in the school premises is strictly prohibited. Phones to be switched off and kept either in personal lockers or handbags . School phones can be used to deliver or receive urgent messages. English to be the medium of communication in the school premises. All communication and expression of feelings through talk and not touch. Attendance: Please be regular and punctual to school. Reaching late to class is the biggest bane for a teacher. All the teachers are requested to reach the class on time. General Rules: Please note, any commercial activity, no matter how small its scale is, by an individual staff member or a group, is not allowed in the Orbis School premise. Values: Be an active listener. Be adaptive as it is a must for teachers, who need to continuously evaluate what’s working for their students. From parent-teacher meetings and department meetings to teaching hundreds of students every day you’ll need collaborative skills. As a teacher, it’s vital to practice empathy. Be a lifelong learner. Patience is important both to possess and to model for your students. Ensure that students feel respected and heard. Always be ready to lend a helping hand to colleagues in school and guide visitors in the school premises. No teacher can enter into monetary transactions with any student or parent or exploit her influence for personal ends. Be strictly impartial in relations with all students. Do not lable any student. For The Orbis School Parents Appearance: Visit the school in a presentable attire. Attendance: Regularly attend Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings and Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs). Behaviour: Schedule visits by appointment only. Address school staff with respect and professionalism. Feedback: Share positive feedback publicly and constructive suggestions privately. Drop suggestions or advice in the suggestion box during PTA and PTM meetings. Collective Responsibility: Understand that the school's reputation is a shared responsibility.
